I would highly recommend Josh from The Canine Consultant - Beth, my pup, is very very timid and Josh quickly gained her trust and she responded well to his one to one training. We then attended socialisation classes which were extremely well organised and affordable.

Josh has been working with me and rescue hound Rocco on lead walking and off lead behaviour on recall. Right from the get go I felt really safe in Josh’s hands, he has a gentle but clear way with Rocco and I really look forward to each session as I can see improvement every week. Josh makes it affordable too, as he wants to build a proper working relationship with you and your dog over time, he knows nothing of any value is achieved in a one off session. I’ve been to see Josh on several occasions for 1-1 sessions over the past few months. My young Cockapoo, Marley, and I were needing some general help with puppy training. Within minutes Josh had gained Marley’s trust, respect and he’d also managed to stop her jumping up.
He really knows dogs and, as importantly, their humans! He listens to concerns and worries and offers constructive, achievable advice. Never criticises and helps me work out what we could be doing better. I’m never made to feel incapable and always come away with more confidence.

We started working with Josh back in January and have thoroughly enjoyed every session and group walk we have attended. Josh is very patient, provides an engaging but relaxed environment and is very positive, even when times get tough.
We got our Labrador, Archie, at 14 months and having had little training before us, it has been amazing to watch his progress week after week and Josh has definitely been a huge part of the journey. We have gone from an excitable pup, with no boundaries, no socialisation and no manners to (still) an excitable dog, but with manners, good recall and making huge progress with his obedience, as well as walking nicely on the lead.

We had an intensive 1 to 1 half day training class with Josh to help with our 10 month old labrador Buddy as he was terrible for pulling on his lead, since having the class Buddy is like a completely different dog! We have also been attending some of Josh's heel work and socialisation classes which are also brilliant. When I first booked my 1-2-1 lesson at Canine Consultant for my puppy called Dottie I was nervous and worried I wouldn’t be able to do the technique that was shown. My puppy is now 6 months old and is full of character. She is a cocker spaniel and has lots of energy. I have been trying to do some technique stuff with her but felt like I needed the right guidance as I was starting to get stressed out, so I really needed help on how to cope with her socialising with other dogs, off the lead, and on heel-work while walking. From my first session I was like there is no way my Dottie will listen she can be so stubborn but such a cutie with lots of energy….
Josh knew exactly how to work with Dottie, after the first session I was so impressed with how well Dottie listened and the technique Josh shown me was working on the recalling and letting her of the lead….
I have carried on now with how he has shown me what to do and she is brilliant, next up was walking her calmly and past other dogs which I knew would be a test but the patients and right guidelines she is now so much better and I’m not stressing coming up to people.
If I have any problems Josh would help with me sending videos of how Dottie would react and he would send me tips on how to help until our next session.
After a few 1-2-1 sessions I attended his classes which would help Dottie socialise better which I can’t wait to see her progress.
We have a few more 1-2-1 sessions with Dottie and I can’t thank the canine consultant for helping me with my dog she absolutely adores him as well.
